Four armed gunmen on motorbikes attacked husband(Charles Korankye) 62years from Switzerland and wife in a car at Amanful, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi this afternoon.
According to eye witnesses at the crime scene, the victims own a big store filled with building materials in that area. As the wife who was sitting at the front seat and the husband driving the salon car returned from the bank and reached Amanful, the four gunmen on motorbikes came from nowhere and started attacking the woman at the front side of the car.
The suspects reached out and tried to snatch the bag on the woman’s lab. In the action of struggling with the bag, the woman started shouting for help and other three gunmen started firing warning shoot in the air. This placed fear into the witnesses at the scene. The other suspects doing the snatching hit the woman’s face several times with the back of his gun, which made the woman weak and caused her to bleed. In self defense the male victim at the driving side took the bag and got shot at the chest. This gave the gunmen the chance to run away with the bag.
Another witness narrated that three of the gunmen were wearing helmet whilst the other one . Sadly the male victim who was shot has been reported dead on arrival when he was transferred from European Hospital to Effia-Kwanta hospital whilst the female sustained injuries. Now residents of Takoradi are scared due to this being the third robbery case in Takoradi within the past three days.
