Andrew Egyapa Mercer Cuts Sod For The Construction Of A CHPS Compound At Adiembra

Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Member of Parliament for Sekondi, on Friday, 17th July, 2020 cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern Community Health-based Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Adiembra in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.

The project which is expected to be completed in six months is being financed by the Central Government through the Coastal Development Authority. The CHPS project seeks to serve thousands of people within Adiembra and its environs by bringing health delivery services closer to the people in this area.

Addressing the Elders and people of the Adiembra community, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer indicated that many lives would be saved because patients that hitherto would need to travel to Effia-Nkwanta to seek urgent first aid medical care will now have immediate access to the much needed first aid after the completion of the project.

He also intimated that the construction of the CHPS compound will help ease pressure on pregnant women and nursing mothers and also ensure effective and efficient delivery of health care services in the area. The project will have a consulting room, wards and housing quarters for the health workers.

On other developmental projects in Adiembra and its environs, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer indicated that the AstroTurf construction which is ongoing in Adiembra by 360 Construction Company will improve sporting activities and youth development within the community. Other projects like the 12 unit classroom block for Adiembra Senior High School, solar powered mechanised borehole for Adiembra Senior High School, and asphalt overlay of the Adiembra roads are all ongoing projects in the electoral area.

The Metro Health Director, Dr Sunderland, explained what a CHPS compound is and its importance to the community, and commended the MP for ensuring that Adiembra and Sekondi as a whole get their fair share of the Government’s decentralized developmental projects.

He promised that since he lives in the electoral area, he will make sure his outfit resolves to see to the successful and timely completion of the project.

Present at the event were the Metro CODA Director, Mr Jonfiah; Constituency Chairman, Mr Percy Morgue Ansah; and The Managing Director for World Investments Limited, Mr Ekow Braint, the contractor.
