Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin has called on new parliamentarians to learn to make themselves better.
According to him, it’s only through learning especially from their seniors that they will be able to have a deeper understanding of how Parliament works.
The Speaker made this known in his closing remarks after a three-day induction seminar for all the new Members of Parliament.
To him, senior members were able to take the new members through how parliament works because they read and have over the years learnt how Parliament works and therefore the responsibility lies on the new members to read wide and learn more.
He used the opportunity to remind MPs to take advantage of the Private Member Motion which was passed at the latter part of the Seventh Parliament.
Adding that they need to use well researched statements and other acceptable Parliamentary tools to do effective work during their tenure as MPs.
