Over 40 Motorbikes Seized For Various Offenses In Takoradi

The Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana police service in the western region has embarked on an exercise to confiscate more than forty motorbikes for various offenses.

Chief Superintendent Isaac Kwesi Sorkpah in an interview monitored by Ghanaprex indicated that the exercise forms part of activities to decongest the roads and reduce the rate of crimes involving unregistered motorbikes in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.

He adds that some of these motorbike riders do not respect road safety regulations and have been contributing to the numerous crashes on the road.

He believes, motorbike riders must go through the process of registration and acquisition of licenses to enable the law-enforcing agencies to monitor their activities. The exercise by the MTTD follows some recent armed robbery attacks that have led to the death of one person with others sustaining gunshot wounds. in all of these, the armed robbers used motorbikes to carry out their activities
