2025 AFCON Qualifiers: We will stay positive ahead of Angola and Niger games - Henry Asante Twum

Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has admitted Ghana's challenges in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers but insisted they will stay positive in their final two games.

After four games, the Black Stars sit 3rd in Group F with just two points leaving their chances of qualification in doubt.

To secure qualify for the tournament scheduled to be hosted in Morocco next year, Ghana must win against Angola and Niger and hope Sudan lose against Niger and Angola.

Speaking to the press on Monday after the team's first training at the Accra Sports Stadium, Asante Twum said even though their chances of qualification are not in their hands entirely but they will stay positive ahead of the two remaining games.

"Well, it’s something that came up this morning in our normal technical team meetings. Unfortunately, we do not have time on our hands. Today’s training is the first one," he said.

"Tomorrow they will train and then Wednesday we will do light training before we depart for Angola.

"So we do not have enough time to go through all those pleasantries that we normally take the team through when they are in camp. So things stand, the simple answer to your question is NO. We are very much focused on the games.

"We want to go into the games with a positive mindset that has always been the driving force for this team. We go into games thinking we have to win. We go into games with a plan to win. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the results in the last four games," he added.

The Black Stars will hold their final training later tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium before jetting off to Luanda on Wednesday.

The Black Stars will be hosted by Angola on November 15 at the Estadio 11 de Novembro, before their final game against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium three day time.
