CAF Confederation Cup: “We are going there to qualify” — Kotoko striker Albert Amoah confident ahead of Kwara return leg

Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has expressed confidence that the Porcupine Warriors will complete the job against Kwara United to advance in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko edged the Nigerians 4-3 in a thrilling first-leg encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with Amoah grabbing a brace to put his side narrowly ahead in the preliminary round clash.

Reflecting on the game, Amoah admitted that defensive errors cost them three goals but insisted the team remains focused on qualifying.

“I think we played very well. We wanted to score more, and we did, but a few mistakes at the back cost us. We conceded three goals, but we are not giving up. We are going there to qualify,” he said after the match.

Alongside Amoah’s double, Emmanuel Antwi and Joseph Ablorh also found the net for Kotoko, ensuring they take a slender lead into the return fixture.

The decisive second leg will be played at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium in Nigeria on Sunday, September 28.

The aggregate winner will set up a tough clash with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the next round of the competition.
