The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Blay Nyameke Armah, visited the Sekondi Market today to assess the damage caused by the partial collapse that occurred on Monday, resulting in the tragic death of a market woman who succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
During his visit, Hon. Armah extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the wider Sekondi Market community for their profound loss.
Hon. Armah engaged with affected traders and market leaders to better understand their challenges and immediate needs following the incident.
He characterized the event as “a painful reminder of the urgent need to rebuild the Sekondi Market into a safe and modern trading centre.”
In his address, Hon. Armah fervently appealed to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic, and the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, urging them to prioritize the construction of a new market for the residents of Sekondi.
He assured the community of his commitment to collaborating with relevant authorities to provide immediate relief to affected traders and to initiate plans for a comprehensive and sustainable solution to prevent such tragedies in the future.
