Ekow Essilfie Takes Over As Host of Asaase Breakfast Show on Asaase 99.5 FM Accra

Ekow Essilfie, affectionately known as "The Ruler," has become a familiar and trusted voice for early morning radio listeners across Accra.

Renowned for his deep-rooted expertise in sports and incisive analysis, Ekow has now embarked on a new journey as the host of the prestigious Asaase Breakfast Show on Asaase 99.5 FM.

Ekow’s broadcasting career began in Takoradi, where he made his mark on Melody 91.1 FM’s Sports Breakfast show before moving to Empire 102.7 FM.

His thoughtful delivery and command of sports and current affairs quickly earned him a dedicated following.

When he transitioned to Asaase Radio, sports enthusiasts welcomed his insightful commentary with enthusiasm, solidifying his reputation as a leading voice in the field.

The transition from a sports specialist to the anchor of a major morning show is significant, yet it feels like a natural progression for Ekow.

His ability to captivate audiences with compelling perspectives and engaging dialogue positions him perfectly to lead the Asaase Breakfast Show, which offers listeners a comprehensive mix of news, culture, and stories that shape daily life.

Ekow’s initial opportunity to host the show came in the third week of November 2025 when the main host, Nhyira Addo, was on leave and the stand-in host, Fritz Amegashie, fell ill.

His impressive performances during this period, coupled with Nhyira Addo’s subsequent resignation, led to Ekow being appointed the permanent host.

Since taking over roughly two months ago, he has won widespread acclaim, including praise from Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, founder and executive chairman of Asaase Broadcasting Company.

This new role allows Ekow to connect with listeners on a deeper level, guiding morning conversations that help people start their day informed and inspired.

The Asaase Breakfast Show is more than just a program; it is a daily platform for reflection, engagement, and meaningful dialogue.

With Ekow Essilfie at the microphone, Accra’s mornings have undoubtedly gained a brighter, more dynamic voice—one that promises to continue shaping the city’s radio landscape for years to come.
