Ghanaian rapper Jay Bahd has expressed excitement over the recognition of Ghana Drill music by the Grammy Awards.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he described the moment as a major milestone for the genre and the movement behind it.
According to him, Ghana Drill—introduced by the Asakaa collective—started as an underground sound with little recognition but has since grown into a global phenomenon.
He noted that seeing the genre acknowledged on such a prestigious platform was a proud moment for him and the entire movement.
“I was very, very happy when they recognized it,” he said.
Jay Bahd added that even though they did not win an award, the recognition itself felt like a victory.
He emphasized that the acknowledgment validated their hard work and showed that their efforts are being noticed on the global stage.
“Even though we didn’t win, the recognition alone felt like a Grammy, and it shows our hard work is being seen,” he added.
