Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has commended Black Stars' vital win over Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana, after drawing 1-1 with Chad, recorded a 1-0 win over the Eagles of Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Matchday 8 games on Monday evening.
Alexander Djiku's 49th-minute header clinched the vital win for the Black Stars to extend their lead in Group I.
Speaking post-match, Kofi Adams commended the players for securing the highly sought-after three points, noting that the result is a testament to Ghana's readiness to compete at the highest level.
"It was a good game, we won. What we needed were the three good points, and we got the points that we needed," the Buem constituency Member of Parliament said.
"We are really ready. We talked about qualifying for the World Cup. We didn't defeat Chad, but the boys did their best, and we have now beaten Mali, the strongest team in this group. The rest, we are going to handle them as well," he added.
The win sees Ghana, on 8 games, move to 19 points and will be hoping to seal qualification when they take on Central African Republic and Comoros in the Matchday 9 and 10 games in the qualifiers in October.
