Former Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah, has questioned the capacity of Otto Addo to lead Black Stars in the 2026 World Cup if the team qualifies.
Ghana is set to reserve a seat in the global extravaganza to be staged next year as they have a three-point lead in Group I despite the remaining two games in the qualifiers.
While the team has been doing great in the World Cup qualifiers as far as the results are concerned also, the performance has not been up to expectations, and there have been numerous condemning Addo for the poor performance.
In an interview with Wontumi, Kyei-Mensah Bonsu said the former Borussia Dortmund man is not well-equipped to lead Ghana at the World Cup.
“I’m sure Ghana is going to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but Otto Addo is not a coach who can lead us to the tournament," he said.
"I look at Mali as our best challenger in the group; they didn't start the qualification campaign well. It's already too late for them to qualify. When it comes to Madagascar, 16 points behind us, they can't win two more matches."
The recent win against Mali puts Ghana a win away from qualification.
The Black Stars' next match is an away affair against the Central African Republic with a home match against Comoros in October to end their campaign.
