Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nassam, pledged once again to ensure the finish of the new office complex at Abenbeboom to make the service delivery convenient.
Since its formation from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly in 2018, Effia-Kwesimintsim Assembly has operated from temporary accommodation offices at Effiakuma New Site meant for the Social welfare Department.
Due to space constraints, four core departments — Education, Agriculture, National Service and Births and Deaths Registry — are holding court outside the Assembly's temporary offices.
This, however, continues to hinder facile and efficient service delivery to residents. In 2020, the Municipal Assembly, through its internal budget, initiated the construction of a new office complex to address the issue; however, the process has come to a standstill in the last few months.
The MCE stressing on the Western regional minister during his working visit insisted that the completion of the new office complex will greatly enhance the provision of services in the municipality.
The tour was aimed at giving the Western Regional Minister the opportunity to officially meet personnel of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly and listen to their complaints.
In delivering a forum address while on the visit, the Minister observed that a majority of workers appear to be resigning themselves to relinquishing the discharge of their duties.
He cautioned that during his reign, it shall not be "business as usual;" highlighting that the Reset Agenda of the President begins with all of them, especially Local Government Services officers, to reiterate their responsibilities.
The Regional Minister and the Municipal chief executive then inspected the new office complex in Abenbebom, and a piece of land set aside for the construction of an Assembly bungalow at Windy Ridge.
