The Sierra Leone Finance Minister, Sheku Fantamadi Bangura, made a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the phenomenal success of GoldBod, the Ghana gold management and trading scheme, and how its replicable model could be employed to drive economic growth in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Bangura commended Ghana for taking steps to formalize and consolidate its gold sector and said the same would do a lot of good for Sierra Leone's economy.
Mr. Gyamfi, for his part, welcomed the prospects for partnership and reaffirmed the readiness of the Ghana Gold Board to share knowledge and collaborate with Sierra Leone to foster mutual growth and prosperity in the sub-region.
The summit highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in utilizing natural resources to drive sustainable development in Africa.
