Sekondi Landing Beach: GH¢126k realised from premix sale – Hon Blay Armah reveals

Sekondi Member of Parliament

The Sekondi Landing Beach Premix Committees have generated GH₵126,000 from premix fuel sales within six months, funds earmarked for community development in line with the Fisheries (Amendment) LI 2233.

Speaking during the National Premix Fuel Secretariat’s accountability series at Sekondi Landing Beach, the Sekondi Member of Parliament, Blay Nyameke Armah, said the amount represents 53% of premix sales mandated for community projects.

He attributed the achievement to measures preventing premix fuel hoarding.

“The GH₵126,000 savings reflects our commitment to transparency and community development.

This has been made possible through strict monitoring to prevent hoarding of premix fuel,” the MP told Hashim News.

However, Mr. Armah expressed disappointment with the previous Sekondi premix administration, which failed to account for eight years of managing the premix fuel at the landing beach.

“We invited them, we spoke to them, we went to various stations to announce yet they did not show up. The administrator has indicated that he is going to send in a letter to grant us the power to invite them to come and render accounts,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Administrator of the National Premix Fuel Secretariat, Ebow Mensah, who supervised the Sekondi Landing Beach Premix Committee accountability session, announced that the accountability series would be extended to all landing beaches nationwide.

He also assured that the Secretariat will embark on a nationwide education campaign to sensitise all landing beach committees on the Fisheries LI 2233.

“We have developed a premix returns book and we have done some training on this for Landing Beach Committees in the Volta Region, Greater Accra and the Central Region. Very soon the team is going to move to the Western Region,” he assured.
