We Don't Have A Music Industry In Ghana - Says Rex Omar

President of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) Rex Omar has said without mincing words that, there is no music industry in Ghana as far as he is concerned.

The veteran hilife musician speaking in an exclusive interview with Nyankonton host of AgoroBeso on Rok 98.7 FM, Takoradi on Saturday June 6 monitored by Ghanaprex.com disclosed that,

"Ghana we just use this word, an industry industry industry. We don't have an industry, we are trying to build one"

The 'abiba' composer further called on government's support in creating the enabling environment to ensure we have one

"The music industry is so huge and had been neglected since after the first republic so if we want to build one the state must consider and build one, help, support, create the enabling environment and the necessary funding"

He however bemoaned the fact that government given musicians money is not the only way to go

"When government gets up and they want to give musicians money or whatever,it doesn't build an industry" he fumed.

Meanwhile, Rex Omar on 5th June, 2020 posted on his facebook wall

"A LOT MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY BEFORE THEIR TIME DUE TO STATE NEGLECT
